Recovery & Resilience Worker (Rural Scotland)

Part-time sessional role

20hrs per week

£12 per hour

Immediate start, contract ends 31st October 2020

As the Recovery & Resilience Worker for rural communities, you’ll be responsible for assessing the needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people living in rural locations in a post-COVID world. This will include, but is not limited to, Dumfries & Galloway, Scottish Borders, Highland, Moray, Aberdeenshire, Angus, Perth & Kinross, Fife, Stirling, East Lothian and Midlothian.

You’ll deliver practical support and assistance to LGBT+ community groups and organisations to help them meet the identified needs of LGBT+ people in rural areas and help to improve their resilience.

You will work to identify community assets, needs, barriers and opportunities, and will explore the experiences of LGBT+ people living in rural areas. You’ll share this work with community anchor organisations to help them become more representative and resilient. You will develop detailed community action plans, always ensuring local people are at the heart of a human rights-based approach to recovery.

You will also be responsible for the production of summary reports and updates throughout the project and will contribute to a Recovery & Resilience Report based on the findings of the project by 31st October 2020.

You’ll report to the Recovery & Resilience Coordinator.

Experience & Skills

Essential:

  • Strong understanding of Scottish rural life
  • Good working knowledge of the LGBT+ sector in Scotland
  • Sound knowledge of community development principles in action
  • Understanding of the financial opportunities for community groups in Scotland
  • Excellent office and administrative skills
  • Full clean driving licence
  • An ability to work to deadlines and with competing priorities
  • Reflective working practice
  • Excellent interpersonal and listening skills
