Response to the COVID-19 pandemic in Scotland:
Another focus of support during the COVID-19 pandemic has been the limited access to health and care, particularly for those with long-term needs.
Terrence Higgins Trust, on a usual basis, focuses on supporting those living with HIV and providing a platform to share their voices. They also help people achieve good sexual health. However, during COVID-19, a range of support and structures have been put in place to ensure people are continuing to be supported.
Specifically, for those living in the Glasgow region, including suburbs and connected counties, practical support is being offered such as;
- Collection and delivery of essential prescription medication
- Distribution of emergency food supplies
- Provision of hygiene, sanitary and sexual health products
- Assistance with fuel poverty
- Support with technology and digital access
As well as continue to sell free HIV home test kits, as part of the COVID-19 response, free kits are available for certain regions covered by NHS Health Boards, including Fife, Lanarkshire, Ayrshire, Arran and Tayside. They also provided a location search tool to see if free kits could still be accessed by other providers, particularly for those who would struggle to pay for a BioSure kit.
