Community Development Worker (Perth & Kinross)

Part-time sessional role

15hrs per week

£12 per hour

Immediate start, contract ends 31st October 2020

An exciting opportunity exists to join our team in a short term sessional role to improve the lives of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people in the Perth & Kinross region.

As a Community Development Worker, you’ll develop and manage a pop-up LGBT Hub in Perth city centre, offering advice, support and a safe space for the region’s queer community.

Reporting to the Executive Director of the charity, you will be working closely with local community partners, stakeholders and public agencies to understand the needs of LGBT+ people in Perthshire and to manage the delivery of COVID recovery work for Pink Saltire in that locality.

You’ll also work with colleagues to understand how emerging community needs can be met, including a sustainable model for the operation of a permanent LGBT+ space in Perth & Kinross.

You will be responsible for the production of summary reports and updates throughout the project and will attend meetings on behalf of Pink Saltire to deliver the project objectives.

Experience & Skills


  • Strong project or programme management experience
  • Have lived or worked in the Perth & Kinross region for at least 12 months
  • Good working knowledge of the LGBT+ sector in Scotland
  • Sound knowledge of community development principles in action
  • Understanding of the funding for community projects in Scotland
  • An ability to manage often competing priorities
  • Reflective working practice
  • Excellent interpersonal and listening skills
