A special Rocky Horror-themed event at the weekend raised nearly £1000 for Oban Pride!
Resident drag queen Crystal was on hand to welcome locals to a special screening of the Rocky Horror Picture Show, in association with the Oban Phoenix cinema.
With a packed cinema and ‘drag-e-oke’ afterwards at the Lorne Bar, organisers at Pride have an extra £700 to help meet the costs of the event, which is being held in the town on 30th May this year.
Organisers also recently celebrated successful funding bids from The Big Lottery Fund and BID4Oban.
Pride chairperson, Phill Dexter, told us:
“We were really delighted with the numbers that came along to the cinema screening and then the event at the Lorne Bar afterwards and cannot thank everyone enough for helping us raise £700 for Pride.”
“We had so many people dressed up and it was such a fun night for everyone – I can’t wait until the next event now!”
Oban was one of 21 Pride events in Scotland during 2019 – a record breaking year with over 70,000 participants across the year. If you’d like to read more about Pride click here.
