Pink Saltire were proud to partner with LGBT Youth Scotland earlier this year to create a new Youth Ambassador Program for young people in Dundee – The Purple Dragons.

Funded through Foundation Scotland, Dundee Youth Fund and Create18, and with significant support from Dundee City Council’s Youth Services team, we worked with a team of 20 young people to plan and host the Youth Zone at the city’s first ever Pride!

The program delivered fortnightly mentoring from workers at LGBT Youth Scotland and Pink Saltire, who helped develop the planning and organisational skills of the young people aged 13-25 who were involved, as well as technical training and the chance to volunteer as part of the Youth Zone event.

Officially opened by Scottish Government Minister for Older People & Equalities, Christina McKelvie MSP, the event was a huge success with over 700 people attending the event at the Marryat Hall on 22nd September.

We’re so proud of all the young people in our Purple Dragons group and want to recognise their dedication, enthusiasm and creativity which really made the event such a fantastic success!

A huge thanks to all the stallholders, vendors, staff and volunteers who helped make this event a reality for Dundee – we couldn’t have done it without you!
