Heartfelt tributes have been paid to a well-known Glasgow man who died suddenly at the weekend, described as “a beautiful soul”.
Ciaran O’Connor, also known on the drag scene as Showna Boaby, was a popular and bubbly young man, much loved by those who knew him well and he made such an impression on those who didn’t.
A crowdfunder was launched by the community to support Ciaran’s family and has already more than doubled its target, which you can still add to here.
Described on his own Twitter account as “a rare breed of diva”, social media has been filled with messages of shock and sadness at Ciaran’s sudden passing, but also of the fun and positive person he was.
Ciaran had a passion for drag and Showna was often seen in scene venues such as Underground and Katie’s, whether performing with her drag family or laughing hysterically somewhere, lighting up the room.
We had the pleasure of meeting Ciaran around the Glasgow scene over the past 5 years and he was always such a fun-loving guy with a beautiful smile and zest for life, a rare breed of diva indeed.
Our thoughts are with Ciaran’s family and friends at this very sad time.
