A packed programme of events for LGBT History Month has placed Perth and Kinross at the forefront of regional activity this year.

Events for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people in Perth and Kinross has increased significantly since a small Perthshire Pride event was held in July last year. Now the community and agencies are working together to improve the delivery of services to LGBT people and show Perthshire as a diverse and welcoming region.

The local authority are already flying the rainbow flag from their Perth HQ together with the regional third sector organisation PKAVS. The programme of activity kicks off on Wednesday 7th Feb with a special ‘Yellow Brick Road’ themed Light Night walk in Perth and includes an LGBT computer games night, heritage day and special film screenings.

The community of Perth & Kinross were also keen to get involved in a new Perthshire Pride event, following a successful consultation by Pink Saltire in October 2017. Almost 30 volunteers stepped up to get involved and plans are now well underway to announce an event later in the year, one of 10 Pride events across Scotland in 2018.

Organisers are still keen to hear from anyone else interested in getting involved – you can either follow the plans through the Perthshire Pride Facebook page or get in touch with Co-Chair, Claire Mackenzie on
