Nominations are now open for the Fife Rainbow Awards 2016.
The awards will celebrate the contribution of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people in the Kingdom at a ceremony later this month.
Organised by the Fife-based LGBT+ charity, Pink Saltire, the Awards are thought to be the first of their kind held in Fife and it’s hoped they’ll attract nominations across a number of different categories.
Founder of the charity, Stuart Duffy, said:
“We know lots of LGBT+ people make a fantastic contribution to their communities across Fife, but many still feel isolated and often cant be open about their sexuality or gender with friends or neighbours, even in 2016.”
“Our charity want to create a more visible identity for LGBT+ people in Fife – that’s why we’re organising the Fife Rainbow Awards. We want to recognise and say thanks for the hard work that happens in lots of groups and organisations to make life better for LGBT+ people and also to recognise the efforts of business and individuals in our communities who support equality for all.”
Nominations are open now in 8 separate categories, such as Volunteer of the Year and Employer of the Year and the charity will also be looking for one individual who has worked tirelessly for the coveted “Outstanding Contribution Award”. It’s hoped the Awards will become an annual celebration of the LGBT+ community in the region.
The Fife Rainbow Awards will be presented at a special ceremony during the Fife Rainbow Gala at Carnegie Conference Centre on Friday 25th November.
Tickets are available HERE.
